Working with a big screen for musical illustrations, the internationally praised music educationalist Paul Rissmann makes a welcome return to guide students and teachers through Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture. Paul and the orchestra will take the work apart, identifying key themes and sections in to order to provide students with a deeper understanding of this great work. The presentation will conclude with a full performance. Duration approximately 1 hour.

A Junior Certificate Music Guide with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra

Working with a big screen for musical illustrations, the internationally praised music educationalist Paul Rissmann and the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra will guide students and teachers through a selection of set and selected choice works/excerpts, including examples of theme and variations, film music and a concert overture. Programme to feature music by Vivaldi (’Spring’, The Four Seasons: Allegro & Largo e pianissimo sempre), Bizet (L’Arlesienne Suite No. 2: Intermezzo and & Farandole ), Mozart (The Marriage of Figaro Overture), Britten (excerpts from The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra: Variations and Fugue on a Theme of Purcell) and John Williams (‘Hedwig’s Flight’: Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone). Duration approximately 1 hour.
