Dear members,
Hope you all had a restful midterm break.
As you may be aware, the NCCA have issued the Background Paper and Brief for the Review of Leaving Certificate Music:
https://ncca.ie/media/lcbeflmx/background-paper-and-brief-for-the-review-of-leaving-certificate-music.pdf
As you will be aware from a previous mailchimp, public consultation on the Background Paper and Brief is taking place from the 6 January to the 28 February 2025.
With the deadline approaching, we are encouraging all teachers to give their individual feedback so that the NCCA can capture as many different views from as many different contexts as possible. This will support the work of the development group in the redevelopment of the Leaving Certificate Music specification.
The background paper provides a context for the review of Music and has been informed by the views of teachers, school leaders and students gathered through school visits conducted in a representative sample of schools. Each section of the background paper contains a summary, but we would encourage members to read the paper carefully.
The NCCA invite you to get involved and have your say on the Background Paper and Brief through the following link:

We would encourage all of our members to engage in this process and have their say in the redevelopment of Senior Cycle Music.
All up to date information in relation to Senior Cycle Redevelopment can be found on the NCCA website and in particular within the news section at the following link: https://ncca.ie/en/
Wishing you all the very best in the term ahead.
