RTÉ lyric fm is set to bring busy music students a brand-new podcast made especially for Leaving Certificate Music. In the series, host Saibh Downes and second level music teachers Ethel Glancy and Mary McFadden will share their expert tips and advice on approaching the big exam.
Producer Gail Henry says: “Our fantastic contributors will offer their expert insights into each of the four-set works and of course the Irish Music question. They’ll offer tips on how to approach the curriculum’s core content, some exam dos and don’ts, and advice on how to draw together the multiple strands of knowledge from all your learning so far.”
Self-care is especially important during exam time, so in a special edition of the podcast, music therapy specialist Professor Hilary Moss will look at the ways students can manage exam anxiety.
The six episodes of the Leaving Cert Music Podcast will cover:
- Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture
- J.S. Bach’s Cantata Jesu, der du meine Seele (BWV 78)
- Freddie Mercury/Queen’s iconic 1975 single “Bohemian Rhapsody”
- Gerald Barry’s Piano Quartet No. 1
- The Irish music question
- Managing exam stress
