To whom it may concern,
I hope you’re well. My name is Cathal Ahern, and I am getting in touch as Youth Officer for Leinster Comhaltas to ask if the PPMTA might be able to help spread the word about a Transition Year Schools outreach project.
The idea is a pilot Primary Schools Traditional Music & Culture Outreach Programme run on behalf of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann Chomairle Laighean (Leinster Council of CCÉ), where TY students present Irish traditional music, song (English & Irish) and dance to primary school pupils in a fun, interactive, hour-long session. It aims both to introduce younger children to the tradition and to re-engage teenagers with it during TY. The hope is to get a list of TY contacts and names in Dublin who can essentially form a panel of musicians that can go out to perform for the primary school children between now and the summer.
I’d really appreciate it if you could:
- share the attached proposal widely with other school teachers or colleagues who may be interested.
- circulate the advert to TY students who might be interested.
I’ve also attached a short form below for any students who’d like to register their interest, as well as a document outlining the project in further detail should you be interested.
