(Since the competition began in 2012, schools from all 26 counties have participated.)<\/p>\n<p><strong>ENTRY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Entering a school in the Competition requires an entry form, photo and video of an ensemble piece or song, performed by an instrumental, vocal or mixed group from the school (maximum 40 performers), that in some way addresses the 2017 Competition theme of \u2018Music Has No Borders\u2019. The performance can be in any genre or combination of genres \u2013 classical, popular, traditional, jazz, world, etc. \u2013 and can be performed by any combination of singers or instrumentalists you choose. Anything goes!<\/p>\n<p><strong>PERFORMANCES &amp; PRIZES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Competition will culminate in a gala Finalists Concert at the National Concert Hall, in which twelve Finalist school groups (six primary and six post-primary) perform before their peers and two distinguished adjudicators. At the end of the concert, a total of \u20ac10,000 worth of vouchers for musical instruments and equipment from Waltons Music will be awarded to six winning primary and post-primary schools, including two First Prizes of \u20ac3,000 vouchers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2017 COMPETITION CALENDAR<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Friday, 10 March, 5 pm\u00a0<\/strong><strong>\u00b7\u00a0Entry Deadline<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Deadline for schools to submit their entries (consisting of an entry form, video recording of the ensemble piece or song, and photograph).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>10 \u2013 21 March\u00a0<\/strong><strong>\u00b7\u00a0Selection of Finalists<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Twelve Finalist schools (six primary and six post-primary) are selected by our initial judging panel.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Wednesday, 22 March, 10 am \u2013 12 pm\u00a0<\/strong><strong>\u00b7\u00a0Announcement of Finalists<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The twelve Finalist schools are announced by Liz Nolan on RT\u00c9 lyric fm.<\/li>\n<li>Finalist school videos are added to the Waltons Music for Schools Competition YouTube channel (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/waltonsmusicschools\">www.youtube.com\/waltonsmusicschools<\/a>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Tuesday, 2 May\u00a0<\/strong><strong>\u00b7\u00a0Finalists Concert, National Concert Hall<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The twelve Finalists school groups perform in a gala Finalists Concert.
