{"id":1050,"date":"2021-11-19T22:02:01","date_gmt":"2021-11-19T22:02:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ppmta.ie\/?p=1050"},"modified":"2021-11-19T22:02:01","modified_gmt":"2021-11-19T22:02:01","slug":"opera-club-arts-in-junior-cycle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/ppmta.ie\/?p=1050","title":{"rendered":"Opera Club (Arts in Junior Cycle)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Hello Everyone<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>The Arts in Junior Cycle Team<\/strong><\/em>are excited to collaborate with&nbsp;<strong><em>Irish National Opera (INO)<\/em><\/strong>to present&nbsp;<strong><em>OPERA CLUB<\/em><\/strong>,a series of six online workshops hosted by INO\u2019s mezzo-soprano Sharon Carty, where participants can meet, discuss and ask questions of a range of national and international stars of opera.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video\"><video controls src=\"http:\/\/ppmta.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Sharon-Carty-Week-1.mp4\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In the series, participants will have the opportunity to:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>View an exclusive selection of INO productions with host Sharon Carty and guest artists<\/li><li>Explore how opera is relevant to a range of subject areas&nbsp;<\/li><li>Exchange opinions and ideas about opera&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><li>Expand and develop their knowledge of opera as a multifaceted artform.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>No knowledge of opera is required. Places are limited. Register for one, two or more of these workshops below.&nbsp;<br>These workshops are free and open to teachers of all subjects as well as music, theatre and dance educators and PME students are very welcome also.&nbsp; They start on 23 November at 7.00pm with mezzo-soprano Sharon Carty introducing a selection of INO&#8217;s &#8217;20 Shots of Opera&#8217;.&nbsp;<br>In addition, there is a complimentary Music Notebook which can be sent to everyone who registers for any of the workshops. Register&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/VAMQKbmyZJyq72P26\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">HERE<\/a><br>Week 2 (7 Dec):&nbsp;<strong>Choreographer and Director: Emma Martin<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>focuses on &#8216;Orfeo ed Euridice&#8217; which also stars mezzo-soprano Sharon. Register&nbsp;&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/8mTxygsCGUfMNbHp7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">HERE<\/a><br>Week 3 (11 Jan):&nbsp;<strong>Composer Amanda Feery and Author Megan Nolan<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>focus on the opera &#8216;A Thing I Cannot Name&#8217;. Register&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/Jjqb1VHqkgFmXkJJ8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">HERE<\/a><br>Week 4 (24 Jan):&nbsp;<strong>Bass John Molloy<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>join us who plays multiple roles in the opera &#8216;The Lighthouse&#8217;, which is based on actual events. Register&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/5LhsN5ieRYJoP37aA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">HERE<\/a><br>Week 5 (8 Feb):&nbsp;<strong>International Set and Costume Designer Nicky Shaw<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>focuses on the beautiful &#8216;La Cenerentola &#8211; Cinderella&#8217;. Register&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/forms.gle\/v5wyfGRkmf71WwJL8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">HERE<\/a><br>Week 6 (1 Mar):&nbsp;<strong>Author and Director Hugh O&#8217;Conor<\/strong>focuses on his career and the opera&nbsp;&#8216;Alice&#8217;s Adventures Under Ground&#8217;.
